Tuesday is Art Day ...

... at least it should be. I hgo to a drawing/painting class at the local Community Art Centre in the afternoon. For somebody with no artistic talent whatsoever I'm going quite well.

Coloured pencils are my favoured medium & I have built up quite a collection by looking out for bargains - ebay, sales etc. At the moment I'm putting together a definitive 'colour swatch' of all of my pencils. As there's over 400 of them, it's taking longer than I thought. At the same time I'm constructing a colour wheel. I'll post the files when I've finished them.

So, because of all that, I hadn't actually done any drawing. I missed last week's class - a story for another day - so I was having withdrawing symptoms. I was in the middle of a still life - a couple of oranges & a pot with a feather stuck in it. I was getting a bit fed up with it but I have to work on my drawing so I turned it into a tonal study. The other people in the class - a very nice bunch - are producing some great work & they are all relative beginners!

I borrowed a book of Botanical Art from Peter, the tutor, & I'll do a tulip from it in coloured pencil as my next project. I'll try to remember to post it as a WIP.

Sunday, Peter's giving a workshop on coloured pencil.

To the football. Last night's game - Austria v Germany was fairly ordinary. I always look forward to these big comps & I'm invariably dissatisfied with them - I just don't like International football - too methodical/technical. This comp has been different though (till last night) & there's been some great games. Turkey v Czechoslavakia was tremendous & the Turkish fightback was brilliant. The Netherlands are playing some good footbal as are Portugal. Hard to pick the winners.
